Gandhinagar, Sept 10: The opposition Congress in Gujarat Legislative Assembly today tabled a motion of no-confidence against the BJP government to "expose" its "failure" on all fronts.
However, the motion would not be moved during the on-going four-day monsoon session due to "paucity of time" and "minimum number of days" required for the legislative
procedure, sources said.
Earlier, leader of opposition Amarsinh Chaudhary and his Deputy Bharatsinh Solanki met speaker Mangaldas Patel and formally made the proposal, the sources added.
State Parliamentary Affiars Minister Ashok Bhatt said Chaudhary had made his stand clear this morning that the Congress would table the motion despite knowing that it would not be taken up due to shortage of time. Assembly sources said the motion would not be taken up in next session also as its validity expires after seven days and opposition would have make the proposal afresh.
When contacted, Chaudhary told a news agency "we knew fully well that it (motion) would not be taken up due to time constraint" but denied that his party had been late in planning it.
"Even if the proposal was moved before commencement of the session, it would not have been taken up this time", he added. Bureau Report
