Mumbai, Oct 03: Putting a dampener on Shiv Sena's Much-publicised annual dussehra rally, the city police has asked the party to refrain from using loud speakers keeping in view the recent ruling of the Mumbai High Court. "In view of the recent High Court order, we have communicated to the Sena not to use loud speakers during its rally tomorrow," Senior Police Inspector of Shivaji Park police station B N Kamble, under whose jurisdiction the venue of the rally falls, told reporters here. As per the court order, the use of loud speakers is prohibited within 100 metres of a place of worship. The venue of the rally - Shivaji Park in Central Mumbai - falls within the 100 metre periphery of a Ganesh temple. When asked about the Shivaji Park police station's letter prohibiting use of loud speakers, a senior Sena leader said "we will go ahead with the rally". He, however, refused to elaborate.
Bal Thackeray has addressed Shiv Sainiks on dussehra for last 38 years, making the event an important one on the party's calendar.
Thackeray dwells on party policies, its future action plans and Sena's posture on various important issues at the annual event, which is attended by scores of Sena workers from across Maharashtra.
Not only Shiv Sainiks but the leaders of other political parties also keenly follow the Sena's dussehra rally.
