Lucknow, Sept 20: Former Uttar Pradesh standing counsel in Supreme Court Ajay Agarwal today demanded suspension of four senior state government officials allegedly
involved in the Taj heritage corridor project.
Agarwal, who is one of the petitioners in the apex court in the Taj case, told reporters here that as the officials involved were holding very senior positions, they could affect any departmental inquiry against them.
He also said that the government should appoint an officer whose integrity was "above board" to conduct the inquiry against the 'tainted' officials.
The Supreme Court had directed the state government to initiate a departmental inquiry against former state chief secretary D S Bagga, former principal secretary to Mayawati P L Punia, former principal secretary (environment) R K Sharma and former secretary (environment) V K Gupta for their alleged involvement in the Taj heritage corridor case.
