New Delhi, July 04: BJP today defended railway minister Nitish Kumar saying that it was not proper to blame the minister for the rail accidents and demand his resignation. "You cannot ask for the resignation of the minister as the system needs to be corrected. Funds have been allocated for this purpose and they are being used to improve the railway system in the country," party spokesman Prakash Javadekar told reporters here.

Asked whether the railway minister was not morally responsible for the accidents which were taking place regularly and should not resign, he said "his resignation would not help. Instead there is need to rectify the system."
