Gaya (Bihar), Apr 18: A Gaya court has rejected the prayer of the former Bihar minister and RJD MLA, Surendra Prasad Yadav, for a stay on the arrest warrant against him in the abduction case. The district and sessions judge, Jawahar Lal Choudhury, turned down the minister's prayer after hearing his counsel, S D N Singh, and the public prosecutor for the state yesterday.
A local court had issued non-bailable arrest warrants against Yadav, RJD MLC Azad Gandhi, besides five policemen in the alleged abduction of a Patna-based businessman, Atul Prakash, early this month. Yadav was forced to resign as a minister of state for excise and prohibition last week following the warrant. Yadav, Gandhi and others have been charged with illegal confinement, kidnapping, torture and intimidation. Bureau Report
