Damdama (Haryana), Sept 06: Congress president Sonia Gandhi today remained non-committal on whether her party would join the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh, saying that the situation was still "very fluid". In an informal chat with reporters here, she, however, insisted that her party's support to the Yadav government was the "first step" after the Shimla conclave where the Congress decided to work with other secular parties to defeat the communal forces.
"I cannot say anything at this moment. Things are happening fast and the situation is still very fluid and there is time to think about it. In which shape we will actually support,” she said.
Gandhi's comments came in the light of reports about a possible split in the BSP and that the Yadav government would not require any support from congress. The Chief Minister is seeking a vote of confidence in the state assembly on Monday.
The Congress president was here to inaugurate a mobile hospital project which would benefit the villagers here and nearby areas. Vishwa Bandhu Gupta, president of the Lok Kalyan Samiti is carrying out the project.
