Jaipur, July 27: Ruling out speculation of change of guards at the PCC presidentship and chief ministership on the eve of assembly polls in Rajasthan, AICC general secretary Ambika Soni today said Girija Vyas and Ashok Gehlot would lead the party and the government respectively in the polls.
"There is no such question of change in either posts, the duo will take up the election campaign in the state," Soni told a press conference here.
Hailing the Gehlot government's efforts tackling drought and famine relief works despite financial burden and Centre's non-cooperation and assistance, Soni said, "When the prosperity was seen after the best monsoonal rains, Prime Minister A B Vajpayee was scheduling his tour to Jaipur on August 10 to woo just votes and please Vasundhra Raje's so called ‘parivartan rath yatra’."
"It was surprising neither the prime minister nor the Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, who was also chairman of the task force, tried to visit the drought affected areas in Rajasthan reeling under acute adversity for the last four years," she said.
"Let the BJP state president Raje explain the reason of her ‘parivartan yatra’ in the state as what she had actually contributed to Rajasthan from the constituency Jhalawar represented thrice," Soni asked.
She said that BJP party workers themselves got involved in clashes and stone throwing incidents in which innocent people were injured, she said, adding for that act of violence the Congressmen should not be blamed.
