Itanagar, Aug 04: Former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Mukut Mithi who lost a trust vote in the assembly yesterday has been re-elected leader of Congress Legislature Party, according to a Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) release here today. Tako Dabi, Chowna Mein and Nabam Tuki were elected as deputy leader, chief whip and deputy whip of the CLP respectively at a CLP meeting held here yesterday, an APCC release said.

The APCC also expressed full confidence in the leadership of Mithi and expressed hope that the Congress would come back to power in the assembly election, due next year.

The minority Congress government of Mukut Mithi was defeated on the floor of the house during a special session by a voice vote after a stormy eight hour session. Mithi, who had taken over power after engineering the downfall of Gegong Apang four years ago, was defeated by Congress defectors led by the former chief minister.

Mithi's government was reduced to a minority on July 27 when 31 Congress MLAs broke ranks and joined hands with Apang to form the United Democratic Front alliance to stake claim to form the government.
