Film memorabilia auctioned, first film sold for 1,60,000
New Delhi, Oct 23: Film memorabilia tracing the history of Indian cinema from 1913 to 1980 went under the hammer here today at an auction which opened with the sale of stills from `Raja Harishchandra`, India`s first full length Hindi feature film, going for Rs 1,60,000.

Going on sale after a brief introductory note read out by film actress Moon Moon Sen, were stills from `Alam Ara', India's first talkie (Rs 32,000), `Indrasabha' (Rs 48,000), K L Saigal starrer `Puran Bhakta' (Rs 45,000), Satyajit Ray's `Pather Panchali' (Rs 48,000) and Chetan Anand-directed `Aakhri Khat' (Rs 50,000).
Posters from films like `Love in Tokyo' and `Sholay' were sold for Rs 16,000 and Rs 5,000 at the auction organised by bowrings fine art auctioneers.
Synopsis booklets of Raj Kapoor films, AVM productions, Satyajit Ray's films and Filmistan Ltd were also auctioned.
The core collection of posters, synopsis booklets, handbills, stills, lobby cards, working bills and showcards auctioned today came from the archive of eminent film historian Bhagwan Das Garga.
