Srinagar, Jan 06: Senior Hurriyat leader and chairman of People's Movement Ghulam Ahmad Mir has been denied permission by the government to undertake Haj pilgrimage, rebel faction of Hurriyat Conference claimed today. A statement issued by the Hurriyat faction led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani said Mir was to fly to Jeddah from Srinagar on January 16.
But when he visited the office of Rajouri deputy commissioner for travel documents, he was told government had not given him permission to travel to Saudi Arabia, the statement claimed.
Earlier, government had denied permission to Geelani, his wife and 44 others whose cases were not cleared by the criminal investigative department of local police for Haj. Bureau Report
