Udupi, Apr 20: Raking up the foreign origin of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, former Karnataka Chief Minister S Bangarappa who joined BJP recently today asserted that under the Indian Constitution a person of foreign origin could not occupy the highest posts of the President and the Prime Minister. Addressing a public rally seeking support for the BJP candidates here, he said Sonia Gandhi had still not imbibed the Indian culture.

"She is not even matured in politics and still reading her speeches prepared by partymen both inside and outside the Parliament", Bangarappa alleged.
"The people of the country will not tolerate Sonia Gandhi becoming the Prime Minister,” he said and questioned as to whether the Congress party had no other Indian who possessed the qualities necessary for a Prime Minister.
Bangarappa, who recently left the congress and joined the BJP, said that the political scenario today was "totally different" from what it was during the times of former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.

He said that he had come out of the congress as he was not able to speak against the leadership. "All Gandhis are not Gandhis,” he said.
