Lucknow, Mar 11: All eyes are now fixed on March 13, when Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati is expected to remove the viel of secrecy over her party`s decision on a possible alliance with the Congress ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh. On that day, Mayawati will launch the BSP’s election campaign in the state with a massive `pardafash rally` here. BSP sources here today said the BSP leadership might clarify the party`s stand in the rally on whether to firm up any alliance or contest all the 80 LS seats in the state alone. ``This might be the last option for both the BSP and Congress to forge an alliance,`` sources hinted.
Sources, however, maintained that the BSP leaders had already prepared the candidates` list for all the seats in UP and the party was ready to face the LS election alone. In the past also, Mayawati had preferred to announce important decisions at such rallies. She had declared registering cases against Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav in a similar rally. Before resigning from the Chief Ministership of the state in August last, she had also addressed a rally here.
Sources claimed about two lakh BSP workers were expected to participate in the rally in which former UP Chief Minister Mayawati would issue directives for the coming elections.
Meanwhile, the BSP was facing the ire of the Election Commission, which had directed the Lucknow district authorities to remove all the hoardings, posters and wall-writings put up by the party for the rally.
