Toronto, Jan 07: The Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Nashville Predators 2-1 in the only meeting of the team this season.
Bryan McCabe's two third-period goals rallied the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 2-1 victory over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night at the Air Canada Centre in the only meeting of the season between these two clubs. It was a physical, smashmouth contest, with each team playing the second half of back-to-back sets and its third game in four nights. Scott Walker registered a shorthanded goal for Nashville (18-16-4-2) in the second period and Tomas Vokoun made 19 saves in net. Toronto (23-8-8-3) outshot Nashville 7-5 in the scoreless first period, despite yielding three power-play opportunities. The Predators finished the contest 0-7 on the power play, while the Leafs went 1-6 with the man-advantage. Walker's shorthanded came with less than two minutes remaining in the second period, and put Nashville up 1-0. In the Toronto zone, he stole the puck from Leafs defenseman Ken Klee, skated to the front of the net and poked a shot past Toronto goalie Trevor Kidd for an unassisted marker. McCabe's first marker of the night, a power-play tally, tied the game at 1-1 at 3:42 of the third period. The defenseman zinged a wrister through traffic that went top shelf for his seventh of the season. At 9:44, McCabe converted a behind-the-net feed from Mats Sundin for the eventual game-winner. Kidd made 24 saves for Toronto.

Attendance for the game was 19,099.
