Jalandhar, June 19: With normalcy returning in troubled Talhan village, the district administration again allowed a 11-hour daytime relaxation in the curfew while maintaining it in the night as a precautionary measure. An official spokesman said that the curfew was relaxed in the village between 7:30 am and 6:30 pm today for the second successive day.

Indefinite curfew was clamped in this tiny village on the outskrits of the city on June 5 following clashes between the dalits and jats following dispute over the management of the local samadh-cum-gurdwara.
The clashes also had its fall-out in Boota Mandi and other adjoining areas here forcing the administration to impose curfew on June 7. With the situation in these localities coming back to normal, the curfew had already been lifted since Tuesday.
The caste violence had left one person dead and at least 28 injured.

The dispute has now been resolved with two warring groups coming to mutual understanding on a joint representation of both the communities on the shrine management committee.
