Jammu, July 23: The army today recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition, including six weapons and 17 handgrenades brought in by the militants, who stormed the Tanda camp in Akhnoor, with a plan to blast the installation, defence sources said here today.
The weapons and ammunition left by the militants included three AK-rifles, 18 AK magazines, 540 rounds of AK ammunition, three pistols, four pistol magazines, 58 rounds of pistol ammunition, 17 hand grenades, one compass which were recovered during sanitisation operation today, the sources said.
They said the huge quantity of explosives and ammunition were aimed at blowing up the camp where grenades were planted at different places. The attack on the army camp left eight personnel, including a brigadier, dead and four top army generals injured.
