Chennai, Apr 03: After calling for desisting from personal attacks during electioneering, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today said that the issue of foreign origin of Sonia Gandhi will be as important as the development plank of the BJP-led NDA.
Addressing mediapersons on his arrival at the airport here en route to Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, he said this important issue was now under debate among the people.

Vajpayee said the AIADMK-BJP combine in Tamil Nadu for the May 10 elections was a formidable alliance.
He said he was willing to undertake a joint campaign in Tamil Nadu with the AIADMK for seeking the support of the people in favour of the combine. Tamil Nadu chief minister and AIADMK general secretary j Jayalalithaa, who was also present on the occasion, said her party had already extended an invitation to Vajpayee for a joint election meeting at Chennai. The programme would be chalked out after considering Vajpayee's convenience and other modalities.

She said she would also be taking part in the meeting. Jayalalithaa stated that the AIADMK-BJP alliance would ''sweep'' all the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.

Continuing with her personal attack on Congress president Sonia Gandhi, the AIADMK leader said only an Indian should rule this country, adding there was no better leader than Vajpayee to become the Prime Minister of India.
