Chandigarh, July 22: Opposing Punjab government's recent hike in admission and tuition fees in colleges, some Congress legislators today demanded a review of the decision saying it was "adversely affecting education in rural areas." Admitting that there was drastic reduction in the number of students taking admission in different courses due to the hike, five legislators from the ruling congress told a press conference here that they would take up the issue with the chief minister keeping in mind the interest of students.

"With the steep hike in the fee structure it has become difficult for the students to pursue education in the state," they said.
