Bangalore, Aug 08: Uproarious scenes marked the concluding day's proceedings of Karnataka Assembly session today as opposition members defied the chair and created a ruckus demanding a CBI probe into the alleged multi-crore fake stamp paper racket, besides minister for small scale industries Roshan Baig's resignation.
Angry opposition members defied speaker M V Venkatappa after he reserved his ruling on an adjournment motion sought to be moved by them on the racket with some All India Progressive Janata Dal members tearing the rules book and using it as missiles, forcing adjournment of the house sine
die. The session was originally scheduled to end today.
Even as the BJP members launched a dharna and displayed lung power, some of the AIPJD counterparts made a vain bid to hammer their point and tore the rules book and hurled papers.
AIPJD members went to the extent of threatening to move a breach of privilege motion against the presiding officer. The opposition members sought to move adjournment motion on a media report in which former city police commissioner H T Sangliana reportedly said he had recommended to the government a CBI probe into the stamp paper racket.
The former high-profile city police chief was also quoted as having said prime accused Karim Lala alias Abdul Karim Telgi had confessed during interrogation about his business dealings with Rehan Baig, brother of minister Roshan Baig but it was not pursued further.
