New Delhi, Jan 13: The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) today welcomed the initiative taken by Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama to resolve the Ayodhya tangle, saying "it will be a giant step forward, which will open doors for solving all the disputes of similar nature and to achieve communal harmony in future.” "The commission feels that the significant measure taken by a man of such a high stature, who commands respect and reverence from all sections of the society in the world, to resolve the matter which has been lingering on for decades will certainly yield positive results," NCM chairman Tarlochan Singh said.

Asserting that dialogue was the only method to sort out all disputes, he said that the commission considered that the initiative taken by the Dalai Lama should be acceptable to all.

The commission hoped that the leaders of both communities would not hesitate on any pretext and would come forward for an open dialogue across the table in order to make sincere efforts to resolve the issue, he said in a press release.
