New Delhi, Nov 19: Eminent environmentalist and social activist Vandana Shiva has been honoured with the prestigious `Gluseppe Mazzotti` award for her book `Tomorrow`s Biodiversity` in Venice, Italy.
Shiva received the award on November 16 for her ability to illustrate the link between the problems of biodiversity and the worrying recent developments opened up by the application of biotechnology to agriculture.
Her passion for exploring new subjects of great ethical and cultural importance in the era of globalisation, such as assignment of property rights to genetic resources with the resulting implications for agricultural communities in developing countries has also been recognised. Her book has been published in Italy by Edizioni Ambiente as `Campi Di Battagulia.`
