Perth, Feb 01: The “Brett Lee effect” rocked India again as the much feted batting line-up folded up for a paltry 203 in their one-day encounter at Perth today. Returning after a three-match hiatus, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar looked out of touch as he became Lee’s first victim. He added just five runs to the scoreboard. His opening partner Virender Sehwag, however, made 32 quick runs, hitting six 4s on his way.
V V S Laxman’s honeymoon with Aussie bowlers got over as he was caught behind off Lee for one. One after the other Indian batsmen returned to the pavilion and at one stage India were reeling at 145 for the loss eight wickets.
A late resurrection by Murali Karthik and Irfan Pathan helped India reach 203. Bureau Report
