Srinagar, Sept 20: Six Pakistani militants were killed and three soldiers injured in two separate encounters with Rashtriya Rifles in Kashmir valley today, official sources said. Six militants, belonging to Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit, were killed and three troopers injured in a 10-hour-long operation at Herman village in Shopian area of Pulwama district early in the morning, the sources said.

They said the operation started around 4.30 am when the troops laid a cordon around the village following specific information about presence of a large group of foreign militants.

The troops confronted the ultras when they tried to flee from the cordoned village and asked them to surrender. Instead, they lobbed grenades and opened heavy volume of fire which was retaliated by the troops, the sources said, adding six militants were killed in the fierce clash.
A huge cache of arms and ammunition including five AK 47 rifles, 19 magazines, 320 rounds, a sniper rifle and three wireless sets were recovered from the scene of the encounter, the sources said.

They said that the bodies of the deceased militants were sent to local police station for identification, but the documents from them indicated that all of them belonged to LeT outfit.

In another encounter, the Rashtriya Rifle troops killed a Pakistani militant belonging to Harkat-ul-Mujahideen outfit during a combing operations at Chournar forest of Kupwara district in the wee hours today, the sources said.
The deceased militant was identified as Abdul Rehman alias Abdali and an AK 47 rifle, 194 rounds and a wireless set were recovered from his possession, they said.
