Margao, Dec 06: Riding high after their win against East Bengal, local champions Salgaocar are favourites to win tomorrow against new entrants Mohammedan sporting (Kolkata) in the 8th National Football League, to be played at Nehru stadium in Fatorda, Margao. Despite injuries to striker Endro Sebastiao and playmaker Tomba Singh, Salgaocar has a strong midfield, which can tear apart any defence on its day. Mohammedans, who played salgaocar twice this season, inning in the federation cup and losing in the Durand cup recently, will have to use all their resources well and play as a unit if they want to upset their rivals, who are in good form. The visitors, who lost to Mohun Bagan in their lung opener, will rely on their foreign recruits Chidi Edeh (forward) and Udafa Okel (defender) both Nigerians to deliver the goods. Mohammedan coach Shankar Moitra made it clear that his side would be playing for a draw tomorrow. "They are a strong side and difficult to beat at home. We are expecting an even fight. Our plan is first to play a defensive game and attack on counter moves as we are aiming for one point," Moitra said. Salgaocar coach Savio Medeira said "we will play our usual attacking game, keeping our forte in tact. We cannot remain complacent after our win against East Bengal. Our boys will have to remain playing in the same vein and win", added Medeira. Bureau Report
