Adelaide, Nov 25: Injured Australian batsman Darren
Lehmann vowed here today to return to Test cricket after he
has overcome a severe achilles tendon problem.
The 33-year-old left-hander has been written off by some
critics, who believe selectors will use his absence from the
four Tests against India over the next six weeks to install
new blood into an ageing side.
Lehmann described his injury as a "long hiccup", but refuted suggestions it would end his international career.
New South Wales batsmen Simon Katich, 28, and Michael Clarke, 22, are challenging to become Lehmann's permanent replacement.
"Everyone is entitled to their opinion, that's fine," said Lehmann, who is expected to be on the sidelines until at least early January.
