Shenzhen, Sept 11: China has built its own 'Taj Mahal' in this booming south Chinese city, attracting millions of tourists who marvel at the miniature of the white marble architectural wonder.
"I don't have the money to travel to your country and to see the Taj Mahal with my own eyes. So I came to Shenzhen to see the Taj miniature and other wonders of the world," Wang Hui, a tourist from east China's Zhejiang province said.
"From the Internet, I know that the Taj Mahal is an architectural wonder of the world that was built as a tribute to beauty and love," she said, while posing along with her friends before the miniature Taj here at the 'Window of the World," the largest and most popular theme park in China. "We appreciate Indian culture and films very much," she said, adding, "When I earn enough money to undertake a foreign trip, India would be one of my preferred destinations."
"This miniature is really impressive. So I am sure the original structure would be much more grand than its copy here," Jennifer Fang, an engineering student commented. The English-speaking guide of the park, Zhen Xi said the Taj Mahal miniature was one of the most popular spots for tourists in the 480,000 square metre theme park where one can see all the eight wonders of the world along with the Great Wall of China.
