New Delhi, Feb 20: The Defence Ministry today ordered an inquiry into the crash of MiG-21 near Jamnagar this morning while citing 'failure of engine' as the prima facie reason behind the accident. The MiG-21 type -96 aircraft which took-off from the air force station-Bhuj crashed soon after, killing four persons this morning.

The engine of the aircraft was flamed out apparently due to shortage of fuel. However, specific reasons would be out only after the investigation report out, a defence ministry spokesman told reporters here this afternoon. He said the ill-fated aircraft was on a 'dummy range flying' mission and crashed 25 minutes after take-off.

The engine of the aircraft had already been sent to Koraput for technical investigation, the spokesman said. Bureau Report
