Assembly by-polls for seven seats to be held on Feb 26

Pampore assembly constituency in Jammu and Kashmir, represented by PDP member Abdul Aziz Mir who was gunned down by militants last month, is among the seven constituencies that will go to the polls. Sattankulam by-poll in Tamil Nadu was caused by the death of TMC member S S Mani Nadar, who had opposed his party's merger with congress. His wife Janaki Mani has now joined the AIADMK. Of the two by-polls in Uttar Pradesh, the one at Haidergarh was necessitated following resignation of former chief minister Rajnath Singh after his election to Rajya Sabha while Noor Mohammad's death left the Gauriganj seat vacant.
The Humnabad by-poll in Karnataka has been ordered as the election of sitting member Subash Kallur was declared void, while election to Poriyahat seat in Jharkhand arose following resignation of Pradeep Yadav.
The election in Bhokarden seat in Maharashtra was necessitated following the death of Vithalrao Patil Sakpal.
