Srinagar, Oct 26: A fortnight after the declaration of election results in Jammu and Kashmir, two independent candidates of Democratic Peoples' Forum today threatened to go to the court against what they alleged "massive rigging and manipulations of election results".

Abdul Haq and Ghulam Qadir Mir, two defeated candidates from Lolab and Kupwara Assembly segments, respectively threatened to file a petition against the Election Commission for the alleged manipulations of the results. "Several gross irregularities were committed during the poll process and were brought before the election commission observers from time to time", Haq told reporters here.

Terming the Election Commission's "attitude" as "unfortunate," he said the observers did not heed to even media reports and photographs showing minors casting votes.
Both Haq and Mir said they would be moving the court if the EC failed to uphold justice.

"We don’t even mind going to the people and exposing the so-called free and fair elections alongwith documentary proofs which we have collected during these two weeks", they said.

To a question as to what took them so long to level these allegations, the candidates said, "we had been collecting documents to file a petition in the court". Bureau Report
