New Delhi, Sept 27: Terming the second Labour Commission as "anti-poor, anti-labour and against the spirit of the Constitution", Delhi government today demanded that the Centre reject the same.
"The report is a part of the central government's conspiracy against the workers at the behest of the rich and the multinationals," Delhi labour minister Deep Chand Bandhu alleged here.
He told reporters that the Delhi government would lodge a formal protest against the report at tomorrow's meeting of the State Labour Ministry convened by the Central Labour Ministry.
He alleged that his ministry was not given enough time to study the 1,775 page-report before tomorrow's crucial meet.
Objecting to specific provisions of the report, he said it seeks to reduce the number of statutes governing the organised sector from the existing 28 to four.

Pointing out that according to one of the proposed recommendation, establishments with less than 300 employees may retrench them without government approval, Bandhu said "Delhi is no industrial belt. Most industries here are small and the new recommendation may result in retrenchment anytime for the 43 lakh workers in the city."
