Slain leader`s family meet TN CM, seek protection
Chennai June 16: T Ramaiah, brother of the slain DMK leader T Kiruttinan, along with K Tolkappiyan, son of the late leader, today called on the Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa and requested her to provide full protection to the members of the family as they were receiving threats to their lives.

Jayalalithaa expressed her heartfelt grief over the murder of Kiruttinan.
Ramaiah later told reporters he would decide about joining the AIADMK after consulting the supporters of Kiruttinan in Sivaganga district.
He expressed displeasure over the DMK president M Karunanidhi's 'support' for his elder son M K Azagiri, who had been arrested by the police in connection with the Kirutinan's murder.

He defended the arrest of Azhagiri and said there was no move to politicise the murder of Kiruttinan. 'There is no political intention in the arrest of Azhagiri', he said.
He said that the Chief Minister had promised to provide full police protection to the family.
The daughter of the late leader Thena and Nedunchezhiyan, Ramaiah's son, were also present during the meeting, which lasted for over 10 minutes.
