New Delhi, Jul 25: Normal cable TV services were restored fully after a one-hour blackout of programmes each day for the last two days was withdrawn today. The Cable Operators United Front, which imposed the one-hour stoppage from from 6 pm, said, "There will be no strike now.”
Yesterday, Delhi and some parts of the country faced a 15-hour stoppage of TV programmes.
Referring to some remarks made by a cable TV operator Vickey Chowdary on MPs which created uproar in the Rajya Sabha yesterday, couf said that it held Parliament and its members in "full esteem and respect".
Condemning the remarks of Chowdary, it said that he was not a member of couf and appealed to MPs not to punish the entire industry and consumers for the "irresponsible comments and mistake of some individuals". It also suspended Rakesh Dutta from its membership for his alleged comments in media against some MPs.
Couf said that it would meet MPs and would apprise them of the benefits of CAS Bill to consumers.
