A survey by Hotel.com reveals some interesting finds...

In a global survey conducted by Hotels.com with over 25,000 respondents from 28 countries, it was found that 43% Indians booked a hotel room on their mobiles in anticipation of a romantic encounter with someone. The survey, which was conducted to understand the preferences of travellers this Valentine’s Day included 1,050 Indian respondents aged 16-64 years. The most searched Valentine’s Day international destinations by Indians were Dubai, Bangkok, Singapore, Bali, Pattaya, Phuket, Koi Samui, Frankfurt, Adelaide and New York.

It's not just the couples, but it seems that this year, even singles are celebrating this festival of love. Over 17% of Valentine’s travel booking were made by singles and some of the most preferred destinations within India include Jaipur, Ooty, Mandarmani, Manali, Guwahati, Mangalore, Havelock Island, Bangalore, Chopta Valley, Coorg, Corbett and Mumbai. It was also found that singles spend the same as what a family with one child would spend on a holiday ( budget of ₹17,500) and plan their travel a month to 39 days prior to the travel date.
