Kochi, July 20: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) today demanded that Gujarat elections should be held only after imposition of President's rule in the state. "Only after the situation in Gujarat, which witnessed violent communal clashes in the recent past came back to normal, the polls should be held," NCP national general secretary T P Peethambaran told a press conference here. The Narendra Modi government, which resigned yesterday, was keen to hold the election immediately as it wanted to ride back to power by instilling fear in minority communities, he alleged. Peethambaran also announced the party's decision to observe a 'save India' week from Aug 9 to 15 and campaign against "communal forces", he said.
