New Delhi, Nov 03: Delhi government is planning to submit a proposal to the state electricity regulatory commission for a hike in the electricity tariff in the national capital. "By December end, we are planning to submit a proposal regarding hike in the electricity tariff from next year in the national capital," Jagdish Sagar, chairman and managing director of Delhi Power Supply Company Ltd, told a news agency. However, Sagar said a final proposal will only be prepared after due consultations between the two distribution networks, New Delhi Power Ltd and BSES, and transmission companies.
"All of us have to see how much it (power) costs us which includes buying and distribution then only a proposal will be prepared," he said. Asked about the quantum of hike, Sagar refused to make a guess but said "it is not going to be a steep hike. The rise should be nominal."
On the power supply to Delhi Metro Rail project, Sagar said they will buy it from the distribution companies at the market rate depending on their areas of operation.
