Vijayawada, May 17: Andhra Pradesh would "fight it out" for its due share of Krishna waters from Karnataka to protect interests of the state, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said today. "We will fight it out in the tribunal," Naidu said when asked by reporters here as to what steps the state government was going to take to get its due share of Krishna waters after the construction of Almati dam beyond its specific height.
Naidu, during his five-hour whirlwind visit to the city to oversee various works taken by the district administration, said the TDP government was committed to take up Pulichintala project and before taking it up "we are trying to get unanimity on the issue." He said the district administration would provide within six months rehabilitation to canal bund evacuees in the city with all facilities like approach roads, employment generation units and medical facilities in the area.
The government would also take up underground drainage works in the city in two phases, Naidu said adding in the first phase a treatment plant would be constructed before the drainage system is completed.
