Sept 29: Lauding magnanimity of the people of Jammu for giving shelter to migrants of all communities, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has asked residents of this city to consider visiting Kashmir and residing there in the same way as some of the Muslims have made Jammu their second home. Addressing members of the Jammu Club here yesterday, the Chief Minister said that during the turmoil in the Valley when Kashmiri pandits migrated to Jammu, a sizeable number of Muslims also followed suit.

While some talk about changing demographic character of Jammu with the arrival of some Kashmir Muslims in the city's outskirts, the fact remains that they came down only because they got love and affection from their Hindu brethren besides feeling secure here. He said the state is one and its citizens should feel free to own property wherever they like and feel comfortable.

On reciprocal basis, he invited people of Jammu to come to Kashmir and the government will help in allotting them land for constructing dwelling units.

Mufti said this should be viewed as a measure of integration and communal harmony. Bureau Report
