New Delhi, Aug 07: Members in the Rajya Sabha today took strong
exception to yesterday's Supreme Court ruling, banning strikes by
government employees and trade unions.
''The ban on strikes will make every government and management
the master and workers the slaves,'' Vyalar Ravi (Cong) said,
drawing support from several other members, like Shabana Azmi
(nominated), Sarala Maheshwari (CPI-M)and others.
Ravi wanted to know what steps the government was taking to protect the rights of the workers. Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat said the members had made their point and it was now up to the government to respond.
