Jammu, July 01: A militant was killed in an encounter and a Pakistani national arrested in separate incidents in Udhampur district and R S Pura area of Jammu division since yesterday, Border Security Force sources said here today. The militant was killed in a shootout after BSF troops, on specific information, launched an operation in Ramakunda area in Gool Tehsil in Udhampur district last night, the sources said.

One rifle with four magzines, two hand grenades, one compass and one binocular were recovered from the slain militant, whose identity was yet to be ascertained.
BSF troops arrested one Pakistani national when He crossed into Indian territory in R S Pura sector via the border out post at Abdullian last evening.

The Pak national, who is in the age group of 20-30 years, appeared to be mentally retarded, the sources said.

Meanwhile, army and police have launched a joint operation in Gangyal area of Jammu district to track down two suspected militants.
The two persons, carrying weapons, were seen moving about in Gangyal and local people reported the matter to the police, official sources said, adding that the suspected militants may have sneaked into the area from across the border to carry out subversive activities in Jammu.
