Guntur, Dec 15: Naxalites of the outlawed people's War Group (PWG) blew up yet another telephone exchange, the third in a month, in Guntur district late last night, police said here today.
About 20 armed naxals barged into the exchange, asked the staff to vacate the building, where they planted gelatine sticks and later detonated them, police said. The arrest of a naxal activist, Kottaiah might be the reason behind blowing up the exchange which has 200 telephone connections, police added.
It may be recalled that Naxals had blown up Pedakodama Guntala Telephone Exchange on November 20, Veerapuram telephone exchange on November 22 and Tumalacheruvu Railaway station on November 19 besides blowing up Pondugula Railway Station. Rail traffic on the Guntur-Nalgonda section of south central railway has been partially disrupted since then. A few days back, naxals set ablaze three state transport buses in the district.
