Chennai, Nov 09: TMC MLA S S Mani Nadar, who had opposed the Congress-TMC merger, died here today at a private hospital after a brief illness, family sources said. He was 66 and is survived by wife and a son. His body was being taken to Sattankulam where the funeral would take place tomorrow, the sources added.

Mani Nadar was one of the five MLAs, who were against TMC's merger with the Congress.

He was recently declared a member of the TMC legislature party headed by D Komaradoss by the Tamil Nadu Assembly speaker K Kalimuthu. He was twice elected to the state assembly from Sattankulam in 1996 and 2001.

Komaradass and C K Tamilarasan, TMC MLAs, were present at the hospital when he breathed last, they added.
