New Delhi, Dec 26: Normal air, rail and road traffic was disrupted as a thick fog enveloped the national capital since early today.
All domestic and international flights scheduled to depart and land in the morning were delayed due to the inclement weather leaving hundreds of passengers stranded at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, airport sources said.
However, the landings and take-offs resumed after the fog cleared in the afternoon, the sources said adding, "this situation is normal at this time of the year and we are expecting similar delays in the morning hours for few more days."
Eight trains leaving Delhi for Kolkata and some areas in Bihar were rescheduled following their late arrival due to poor visibility in the morning, railway sources said.
With visibility as low as less than 100 metres, road traffic also moved at a snail's pace in the capital and motorists had to switch on their headlights. The continuing strike by auto rickshaw drivers only compounded to the problems of the commuters.

The weatherman had little solace to offer and predicted that the dense fog situation would continue for a couple of days more.
