After initial decline, precious metals marginally gain
Chennai, Oct 20: After initial decline, the prices of both gold and silver recovered and ended the day at its previous day`s closing levels on the bullion market here today.
Chennai, Oct 20: After initial decline, the prices of both gold and silver recovered and ended the day at its previous day's closing levels on the bullion market here today.
The market commenced the day with standard gold (ten grams) dipping by Rs 15 to open at Rs 5600, but later recovered to finish the day at Rs 5615, that is it remained unchanged from the Saturday last position of Rs 5615.
Bar silver (per kilo) also declined by Rs 35 to open at Rs 7900 but went up to finish with at Rs 7940. The previous day's close was Rs 7935. Similarly, ornament gold (per gram) shed Re one per gram to open at Rs 519 and recovered to close the day at its previous day's close of Rs 520 per gram.
Following are today's closing rates with previous rates in brackets: bar silver (per kilo) Rs 7940 (Rs 7935) standard gold (ten grams) Rs 5615 (Rs 5615), retail silver (per gram) Rs 8.50 (Rs 8.45) and retail ornament gold (22 carat per gram) Rs 520 (Rs 520). Bureau Report
