Islamabad, Sept 22: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has claimed that his country made better battle tanks and fighter planes than India and said Islamabad would soon start mass production of high-standard tanks. "We have developed a tank al-Khalid which India failed to match"," Musharraf told a gathering of Pakistani community in New York last night, soon after his arrival there to attend the UN General Assembly session. Pakistan would soon start mass production of the al-Khalids, which can be compared with any top tank of the world, he said. Speaking about the new Jet Fighter JF-17 thunder, jointly developed with China, Musharraf said it would form the backbone of the Pakistan Air Force. India has been working on its light combat aircraft for the last seven-eight years, he said. Pakistan was fully capable to meet any military challenge -- conventional or otherwise, he was quoted as saying by Pakistan's official news agency.
