Ranchi, Nov 08: The CPI today alleged the ruling BJP has hatched a conspiracy to corporatise farming lands in Jharkhand which would turn the tribals into migrant labourers. "An adivasi is very much attached to his land. But we see a conspiracy to change land reforms by selling them in the hands of corporates," CPI general secretary A B Bardhan told a press conference here.

He said the suggestion made by former chief minister Babulal Marandi (in a book) to amend Chhotanagpur and Santhal Parganas tenancy acts further vindicates our fear.

Corporatisation of land will decrease the growth of agriculture produce, he said and asserted "we are against the conspiracy to sell land of adivasis in the name of the greater Ranchi project." Bardhan also charged the Arjun Munda government with dilly-dallying the announcement of panchayat elections even after three years of creation of Jharkhand.

"Before the creation of Jharkhand every one had been blaming Laloo Yadav for not holding panchayat elections. But while Bihar had already completed the process a year and a half back, Jharkhand is still not serious about holding the polls," Bardhan said.

The CPI leader said his party, in consultation with other left parties, would launch an agitation in December to protect the interest of people of the state. Bureau Report
