Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Bihar, Orissa and Assam have written to their Tamil Nadu counterpart Jayalalithaa expressing support to her demand to the Centre for a 'special financial assistance package' of Rs 3000 crore to tide over the current financial crisis facing the state. These chief ministers, Vilasrao Deshmukh (Maharashtra), Rabri Devi (Bihar), Navin Patnaik (Orissa) and Tarun Gogoi (Assam), have told Jayalalithaa that they would impress on Prime Minister A B Vajpayee to convene a meeting of chief ministers to 'streamline' the financial structure, an official press release said.

Jayalalithaa wrote to Vajpayee on mar.25 last, requesting a special package for the state. She had sent a copy of her letter to all the chief ministers.
