A Junior Commissioned Officer and a jawan were injured in a mine explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector while five militants were among seven people killed in the Kashmir valley since on Thursday night, officials said on Friday.
Five militants were killed in a fierce clash with army and special operation group of Jammu and Kashmir police at Malapora Beerwah in the central Kashmir district of Badgam on Friday, an official spokesman said.
The exchange of fire occurred after security forces surrounded the villages following a tip-off that militants were hiding there. The forces were attacked with grenades and automatic weapons, the spokesman said.
He said bodies of five militants have been recovered so far. The security forces did not suffer any casualty, he added. Officials said militants fired a couple of rockets towards the camp of a senior border security force officer in north Kashmir late Thursday night. There were no damages or loss of lives, they said.
