Hampshire, July 30:Sri Lanka left-arm seamer Chaminda Vaas could replace Wasim Akram as Hampshire's overseas player. Hampshire's first-team manager Paul Terry said: "There are still some things to sort out but we hope to make an announcement later this week."
The 29-year-old has played 68 Tests and 227 one-day internationals.
He has claimed 216 Test wickets and 282 in the shortened version of the game and is also a useful contributor with the bat.
His current Sri Lankan team-mate Muttiah Mualitharan plays his first match for Kent on Wednesday, while former team-mate Aravinda de Silva also played for Kent.

Zimbabwe seamer Heath Streak was initially approached as a replacement for Wasim but he decided to spend more time with his family.
