Jaipur, Dec 03: Rajasthan High Court has issued notices to the Union and the state governments on a writ petition seeking amendment in Industrial Dispute Act. A division bench comprising justice S K Keshote and justice Shashi Kant Sharma last week issued the notices on a public interest writ petition which pleaded to dispense with requirement of conciliation proceedings and allow aggrieved workmen to directly approach labour court or industrial tribunal.

The petition, filed by Rajasthan Van Vibhag Mahasangh, Kota and Rajasthan Van Mazdoor Mahasangh said that aggrieved workmen, discharged, dismissed, terminated or retrenched from service, should have a right to directly approach labour court or industrial tribunal without facing long conciliation proceedings which was a kind of "harassment and victimisation".

The petition also referred to a notification issued by Lt. Governor of Delhi allowing aggrieved workers to directly approach labour court within one year of termination of their services after a similar case was filed in Delhi High Court. Bureau Report
