Jaipur, May 09: Rajasthan government has worked out a package of concessions and incentives for setting up of product-specific special economic zones in the state. In the first phase, product-specific SEZs have been planned for gems and jewellery units at Sitapura, near here, and for handicrafts units at Boranada, near Jodhpur, an official release said here today.

In the next phase, private sector participation will be encouraged for development of SEZs by inviting offers for both the multi-product and the product-specific zones at strategic places, it said. SEZs are specifically delineated duty-free enclaves treated as foreign territory for the purpose of industrial, service and trade operations with exemption from customs duties.

The state government had already formulated and released its SEZ policy providing for comprehensive framework for establishment, operations and sustainability of such zones as per the Centre's guidelines, the release added. Bureau Report
