A total of 520 special trains will be run from various parts of the country to help devotees visiting Sabarimala, the hill shrine of Lord Ayyappa, during the two-month long Mandalam-Makaravilakku season beginning from November 16. Minister of State for Railways O Rajagopal said that the railways would also consider feasibility of arranging booking facilities at Sabarimala during the season. Rajagopal who was speaking after inaugurating a seminar on Sabarimala organised by a leading Malayalam newspaper Mathrubhumi urged the state government and the Travancore Devaswom board, which administers the temple, to take concrete steps for upkeeping the sanctity and cleanliness of the temple and its surroundings.
